Default Gas Guage

Does anyone have a gas guage on their cart? I see one on the Yamaha parts diagram. Part Number 8. See link

http://www.yamahagolfcar.com/partsan.../default.aspx#

On my cart there looks to be a cut out/punch out for this to be installed.

My G1 has a guage but the plastic has yellowed making it hard to see the indicator. It still functions despite being 28 years old.

My G9 also has it, and it's too cloudy to read. I tried cleaning it with toothpaste and now I can read the E and F but not the level indicator.

I've been using a yardstick to guesstimate, but I'm getting tired of walking home after running out of gas. I'm ordering a replacement.

Do you have pics you can post? I am thinking about installing a gas gauge and tach in my G2.

The simplest ones are just a replacement cap for the gas tank with a float and mechanical gage. (I put one on my G16). These are quite effective and it's not a big deal to lift the seat to see gas level. Takes less than a minute to install and are trouble free. Hope this helps - RAY

I am think of ordering that gas guage. I need to cut out or punch out that hole. Do you think my only option is to remove the tank so I dont get any plastic inside my gas. If I do it while it is installed I guess my fuel filter will catch it.
