2008 EZGO PDS - Won't Run but no Fault Code
I have a 2008 EZGO PDS. Cart does not run - new batteries, solenoid, speed sensor, even had curtis PMC controller looked at (said there was corrosion on the inside from getting wet) and repaired yet the cart still won't run. I put the cart into diagnostic mode, but all I hear is 4 quick beeps which I believe indicates that I have the Freedom chip (I do) but then nothing after that. Any advice at this point? Thank you

How do I test that? If I put in reverse, the backwards beeper works

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS - Won't Run but no Fault Code
Just some additional info. I have a 1206 MX controller. all batteries measure 38.5 volts. If I connect voltmeter black lead to B- on the controller, I get 38v on B+, 38v on A2 motor, but only 5.4 on A1 motor and 5.4 on A1 controller.

Is the solenoid closing? Does B+ stay 38 when you push the pedal?

with the black lead of the voltmeter on B- and the Red on B+ I have 38v. When I depress the pedal all the way to the floor I get 38.5. I do hear the solenoid click when I depress the pedal and click again when I let up.

38V on A2 and 5.4V on A1 sounds like brushes.

Re: 2008 EZGO PDS - Won't Run but no Fault Code
when all else failed, (based on the linked video) I used a set of car jumper cables and a borrowed battery interconnect to hot wire the motor. If the motor is good, it will turn. When setup like the video, the cart will move forward.
I was working on gravel that prevented easy jacking, so at just 12v, the cart moves SLOW, so I hooked everything up except 1 wire, sat in the cart and touched the battery, rather than jacking it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q39lY84w2S0 |

Followed the video exactly (except I have F1 and F2 so jumpered A2 to F1), using 2 of the 6 volt batteries and jumper cables the motor did not turn. So JohnnieB I am going to pull the motor out and examine it - far from an expert here but if the brushes are bad, I think they can be replaced??

The windings in a sepex motor are connected in parallel for testing. The video showed how to test a series motor.
Here is a how-to drawing for a sepex motor. A PDS has a sepex motor. |
