Re: G2/9 issue
Looks pretty decent in there
Now you just need to find out what is loose. My guess is rod bearings. In these the rod bearings are steel and replaceable like a car. Pretty cheap too. I’d rotate things around by hand, at top dead center or bottom dead center you can probably find the play in the crankshaft to main rod connection. That’s the most likely cause of knocking but poke around. Nothing in there should be “loose” or have play. Just the smallest amount of play makes lots of noise |

Re: G2/9 issue
I can't see the splash fin in the pics. Is that and the rod cap itself all tight ?

Re: G2/9 issue
I’m taking a little break but I’ll get some more pics, everything feels good except the balancer unless it needs to be too dead center ?

Re: G2/9 issue
I believe this has been out before possibly because I notice there is silicone around the 2 half’s
Bearings feels nice and smooth, I’ll try and rotate the crank and see if anything is loose |

If someone has been in there before, then there’s definitely a chance the rod bearings simply weren’t torqued. I’ve never seen it in one of these but had many ezgo’s where the rod cap bolts are literally falling out. Not finger tight, more like you have to tighten them 7-8 rotations before they’re even snug. And those engines were virgin… |

Re: G2/9 issue
Remove the crankshaft and the connecting rod. Bolt it back together and check for play.
That bearing doesn’t look the greatest by any means, though I have seen worse. Take a picture of the crankshaft journal too. |

Re: G2/9 issue
There were 3 different "sizes" on connecting rod bearings. They are listed as brown, black and blue. Luckily when doing my G 14 I happened on the right set. Don't know if all are still available. Part #'s J38-11656-00,J38-11656-10 and J38-11656-20.
