compatible engine swap
Got an XRT1200 club car with FE400d engine. Wondering if the FJ400D
would work in its' place, as the specs seems to be fairly similar. If so, would the mounting be the same as well? |

Re: compatible engine swap
well I would get face to face with the engine that you want to put in because it may be the same on paper but completely different in real life ask me how learned that lesson spoiler it was the hared way

Re: compatible engine swap
Someone may correct me if I am wrong, but to the best of my recollection the motors are pretty similar. However, the FE400D should be a clockwise rotation motor
FJ400D is counterclockwise rotation I’m sure you could mount it easy enough but forward and reverse gears would be opposite. And reverse is geared higher than forward so you’d have a TON of torque going forward but very little speed. I don’t know if they make speed gears for the xrt since some of them have locking diffs and stuff. I’d rebuild or buy the correct engine if it were mine. |

Re: compatible engine swap
You are correct on the rotation difference between the 2. I looked in a parts book i found & downloaded for our XRT1200, and it says clockwise rotation, so not a good replacement choice on the FJ400. The FE series engines are all no longer available. It's been rebuilt once already & no rebuilt engines out there anywhere.

Re: compatible engine swap
What’s wrong with it? It’s a relatively easy engine to work on and unless you e got several thousand hours on it since the rebuild I’d have to question the parts used to rebuild it more than the motor itself. If they used aftermarket parts, they just don’t last. Rebuild with oem and it’ll be good as new

Re: compatible engine swap
Well, leave things like they are because I got an oil slanger/oil burner 295 that might be for sale soon. Should go right in that CC plug and play

I have a boat that could use a new anchor when you’re ready to sell that MCI. Put it to good use for once
