98 C.C.Carry all ignition problems,maybe.
98 carryall 1 series work vehicle stock akk the way. Fuel supply to carb and fuel pump good, new fuel filter has a good flow at the carb. Choking it only causes it to flood down and stop with a sooty plug Run it a while and the plug colors up a nice light brown with no blistering. If you pull the throttle cable open at the carburetor you can feel the rev limiter cut it back and then it will go again when the rpms fall in the range. The spark is orange and will not always jump a /4" gap. Did this model use the one piece coil and rev-limiter? It has the coil assembly under the flywheel at the flywheel and a box that looks like the rev limiter under the carburetor. I ordered a new coil assembly from C.C. and the one they sent looks just like the old coil. Parts clerk assured me this was the correct one for this model carry all.
My question is this; Shouldn't the spark be bright blue and constantly jump the 1/4" gap? The carryall runs good for a while first thing in the morning for about 1 hr and will knock off and after it sits a while it will crank back up and run a few minutes somewhat erraticly and then shut down again, Spark is pretty feeble at this time. The spark seems to be the strongest the first time you run it during the day, or let it sit for several hours. This is a work vehicle goverened down to 2850 rpms for golf course maintenence. Is there any way of testing the rev limiter? Or just leave it unhooked? Any body want to jump at this one?? |

yes it should.........the coil has an ignitor built into it where as the older ones had an external ignitor.........not uncommon for them to go bad............................
