Battery Condition Gauge
The plumbing shop pushed in one of their Carry All 6 carts this morning, someone had left the little heater box on all night and ran the batteries too low to kick on the charger. I brought the batteries back up two at a time with a mobile 12v charger and now the whole bank is reading a little over 49 volts, but the little digital dash gauge is still showing low, the first two bars flashing back and forth. The on-board charger is not kicking on, though there is a solid click sound after a few seconds plugged in, but considering the bank is at 49 volts I don't think it should be coming on now anyway. These batteries were replace in March. Any ideas what this digital gauge is trying to tell me?

Re: Battery Condition Gauge
If You have not done so yet, disconnect the pack negative cable for 10 minutes and then reconnect it.
That will reset the OBC and allow it to charge again. That meter will not reset until it measures 56v for a few minutes, which will happen when you charge. |

Re: Battery Condition Gauge
Assuming the cart is 48v, 49v is high enough for the charger to start charging if working normally.
The battery gage most likely needs to see a certain voltage for a specific time period to reset. For example: 58v for 6 minutes or something like that during the charge cycle. The charger/OBC should take the pack upwards of 65v or so before automatic shut off. You can reset the battery gage to show full if you disconnect one of its leads from the batteries for a few seconds but then it will be lying to you of course. And what Sergio said. |
