Default G1 king pin removal?

Need to replace the king pin bushings on my g1 and have a couple questions?

How does the pin itself come out? Does it thread out or push out for the bottom up?

Once I have the spindle off should I be able to just use a punch and knock the bushings out or are they pressed in?

Do most people just change the bushing and reuse there old pin or do they use new pin when putting in new bushings?

Thanks

Remove the nut and tap the king pin out. It's not threaded in. You can grab the bushings with a pair of vise grips and twist them out. Don't put to much pressure on them because they will break. Tap the new bushings in with a block of wood.

not sure of the g1 king pin but on the g9 you pound out the little roll pin then the big roll pin then pound the king pin down and out you will need good solid punches for this/pb blaster /heat /patients won't hurt either lol

After further inspection I found a roll pin holding the pin in. I knocked that out but still cant get the pin out. Whats confussing is, When I look up g1 pins on line they show a pin with two holes in the pin where mine only has one hole.

There should be a nut on the bottom of the kingpin. The kingpin is tapered, so it is smaller in diameter at the bottom than it is at the top. This is why there is no nut or bolt head on top

No sir. Drive the kingpin out from the bottom upwards. Of course, remove the cotter pin below the nut before you can remove the nut. Use WD40 or penetrating oil.
