Welcome to BGW smokey!

Why would you want to do that?
The reason I ask is... most of us have "pedal start" carts, and would love to make it a "key start" cart!

have three other carts all pedal start. The key start is a pain in the butt. Everytime you let off the gas pedal you must reach down and turn the key again. It doesnt stay running once its started. Would be much easier to change it to conventional pedal start.

Well... that makes sense!
Have you thought about turning the idle screw up a little bit so it idles?

i dont think turning the idle up would matter. It shuts the ignition off when you let off the pedal. I guess if there was a way to configure it so it would stay running that would work too, but the conventional pedal start is fine with me.

Ummm... key start carts were designed to start with the key, idle, and shut down with the key!
I suspect that your idle screw is set too low!

Mine is key start and it doesn't shut off when you let off the gas but I was wanting to change it to pedal start because I think it would cause wear on everything and my battery keeps going dead. Mine doesn't idle when you let off the gas the starter continues turning and when you mash the pedal it starts back up. From the way mine is set up all the key start does is keep the starter turning all the time and I cant figure out how to change it back..

My Carryall IV is a 1999. It has never stayed running with the key on. You depress the pedal and then turn the key for it to start. Once you let off the pedal it will shut off. Turning the idle up will not solve the problem. You can manually keep it running by holding the throttle open on the carb. Doing this and letting off of the pedal will shut off the ignition no matter how many RPM's the engine is turning. Does anybody know what parts i would need to purchase to convert it over to a standard club car or even what i would need to do to have it stay on with the key. I have owned this cart for 12 years and it has always been this way. Please, someone must have an idea....

When you say turn the key do you mean it is an on off or a momentary like a car ignition while you hit the pedal? Sounds like the activation circuit power is on the wrong side of the solenoid.
