Default EZ GO Electric 2001

I have fairly new batteries that when charging will charge continuously without cutting off and needle doesn't move off of 15. I've tried 3 different charges that works on other carts and they all charge the same. I've tested the batteries and read 38+. What is causing the charges not to cut off?

well for starters.....seeing as you have a 36v cart.....the charger will not shut off until it gets to roughly 45 to 46v. IF your pack isn't getting to that voltage....what's why its not shutting off. you may have another issue, not the charger.

What was the pack voltage before you started trying to charge it?

I never check it before. I charge each individual battery for 30 minutes so the pack charger would start. Serious boiling gone on, like dripping all over the floor. Is this normal?

How long are you letting it charge? My cart is 48v and it goes in the 57v range before the charger cuts back to float at around 52.9-53v. Do you have a digital volt meter installed on the cart to show voltage as its charging? Not sure of exact time but even after being only slightly discharged, my charger charges for hours before cutting "off".

I let it charge for 5 hours but the boiling seems a little to much so I cut it off. I have let it charge over night and it still doesn't cut off. I don't have a volt meter installed on it.

if you had to use an automotive charger to charge them up one at a time to get the Cart charger to even turn on.....it seems that you most likely haven't taken the best care of the battery pack.....and your batteries may be TOAST.

The fact that your batteries are overflowing is a bad sign as well.....what is the water level at ambient temperature??

What make/model charger do you have?

What you are describing is a good charger attached to bad batteries.

Staying at about 15A means the on-charge pack voltage is not getting above 43V.

They are gassing heavily, so they are getting in the 42V range.

They are overflowing, so they were likely filled when discharged.

The reason the charger is not cutting off is because the on-charge pack voltage is not climbing into the 44-46 volt range that shuts off the charger.

In simple terms - we hate to tell you this but, your batteries are toast.
