2006 EZGo PDS controller overheating
This forum has defiantly educated me on do's and don't of the cart world this weekend! The bad part is I'm learning the hard way. I just bought a 2006 EZGO TXT PDS lifted cart with 22" tires and decked out for hunting. We piling up the dogs and friends for a ride and didn't make it very far at all on our property before the factory controller overheated. We were driving slow, loaded down, and in rough terrain. All of which thanks to this forum I now understand a PDS cart doesn't do. I'm not yet too invested or attached to the cart. I'm trying to decide wether to keep the cart and make upgrades, or to sell and get something more suitable for my application. I need a cart to handle rough terrain, heavy loads and fairly long trips. My cart has 4ga wire and 2 year old batteries. The research I have done on this site leads me to believe that if I upgrade my controller and Solenoid I should be able to accomplish what I desire. Any input on this setup/situation is appreciated.

Re: 2006 EZGo PDS controller overheating
Sounds like controller & solenoid is gonna do wonders for ya. If you are gonna stick with a stock motor, a 400a controller is about biggest recommended. If you may one day get a motor upgrade, might want to consider a 500a or larger controller, so it will be ready (but tune it back to 400a while using stock motor).

Are there any "package" upgrades available out there? As in controller/ solenoid kits. I was reading up on the Alltrax controllers and understand that they are programable. I'm really not sure how I need to program for my desired needs.
