Bouncy tires

Does anyone have their tires balanced? I have 23" street turf tires and on the road they feel bouncy.

Is this correctable or just the nature of the beast?

Take the tire off the hub. Then hand screw in the lugs one by one. Then tighten in cross pattern. Sometimes you can have a wheel slightly off center of the hub.

Yes, but it's not easy. As soon as you tell them it's for a golf cart they'll tell you they can't do it. Take a tire off and take it to Walmart. Tell them it's for a trailer or something. They'll either do it or tell you where it could be done. But it will fit on the spin balance machine.

It could be an out of round tire

I had 4 Carlisle golf cart tires and a couple of them always seemed to have a flat spot (AKA bouncy). Worse when cold, and just medium annoying when hot. Messed around a lot with rotating tires etc, but was never able to fix the issue. I'm convinced it was an internal/belt/structural thing with those piggies. 4 new tires (Kenda/turf) solved it - hopefully that's not what your dealing with.

At golf cart speeds, the bouncy is usually tire runout rather than imbalance. Try to re-torque the wheels very carefully and you may improve it. Turn them and look for runout.

Also can you define golf cart speeds. These aren't your grandfathers golf cart anymore. :)

I was going to ask the same question. I rechecked the front end. Jacked up and spun tires. Looks like vertically there is 1/4" deflection on one side and closer to 1/2 on the other. Rotating and measuring space to floor it my be 1/4 out of round.

Did tighten one spindle to get a little play out and lowered tire pressure to 18 lbs. Says max is 20 and some were 22.

Haven't tried it on the road. Guessing it may be cheap tires? Have steeling tires and wheels.

PS I've had it up to 28.5 ( if Gps is accurate) going downhill. But bounciness at half of that.

Runout is out of round or wobble. If the wheel is improperly torqued, it can bend and cause the tire to wobble. If the tire isn't made properly or properly seated on the rim, you can get vertical runout. Either will cause an uncomfortable ride. Golf carts are normally designed to go at slow speeds and none I have ever seen have balance weights on the wheels. Neither does my bicycle.
