Default When should the OBC shut down the charger?

I'm reading 56V across the batty bank and the charger is still trickle charging at 4-5 amps. Can it overcharge the system? What is the max charge on a 48V battery system?

the OBC returns the voltage that was used , it will not over charge batteries
max charge is around 60v
here is chart of fully charged battery packs after charge and 12hrs rest

Thought I read you can get down to 20%? That golf cart battery's are built to take it? Down meaning resting state not under load.

This is what the Trojan co. says: http://www.trojanbattery.com/tech-su...y-maintenance/
Scroll down about 3/4 of the page and read under "discharge"

Thx,

I think that's where the confusion sets in

"
50% (or less) discharges are recommended.

80% discharge is the maximum safe discharge.

Do not fully discharge flooded batteries (80% or more). This will damage (or kill) the battery.

Many experts recommend operating batteries only between the 50% to 85% of full charge range.

A periodic equalization charge is a must when using this practice.

"

I read this (as a noob) as try and keep it at 50 but you can go to 80 but no further.

Careful how you read this. I have to think about it every time I look at it.

In my experience this chart is very optimistic.

Make sense, seems like it's always a balance between SOC and lifetime...

If the OBC doesn't see at least 58.3Volts at 5 amps or below, it'll never turn off until it reaches 16 hours of charging. At that point, the MAX TIMER feature of the OBC will turn the charger off (If that feature still works, it fails, a lot)
