Change your rear-end gear oil???
Reading the gear oil thread below, I got to wondering if it should be changed every so often. I change the F&R axle fluid at least every year on 4-wheelers and the SXS,, and do not have a manual on this cart. Common sense dictates to me that this should be done, not sure about lube weight, or the interval of such service. Or, is it even necessary?? I have been reading this forum for several months now, never seen this addressed. Thanks in advance...

Re: Change your rear-end gear oil???
I recently used 75 90w gear oil on both a 1996 and a 1997, neither appeared to have ever been changed.
The 1997 was completed to determine where a rattling noise was coming from, there was no metal in the oil so I started troubleshooting the motor, eventually I did replace the motor. The 1996 was completed later purely as preventative measure since I was pretty sure it had never been changed either. I will keep changing them and based on amount of use, it's much easier if you can jack it up so if I have the opportunity I will do it every few years. |

Re: Change your rear-end gear oil???
I'm not so sure you really need to change rear end oil. Is just lubes the gears, there is no combustion no carbon to build up, it should stay clean, my car has 296000 miles never been changed. When I was in military that is one thing they never had us change.
