2005 Club Car questions
I have a few questions:
1. I posted some time ago that my battery warning light was not working. When I was doing some battery maintenance recently I noticed a red wire coming off of the battery post on the driver front battery. It looked like a female connector. I also have a random red wire with what looks like something broken off from the end. Is this the cable tat runs to the battery light? 2. I am having to replace one battery. They are only 3 years old. Any concerns about one newer battery against the old ones? Thanks in advance. |

Re: 2005 Club Car questions
It is not recommended to replace just one battery.
There is a Sticky at the top of the page, that tells all there is to know about battery's, check that out for assistance on that issue. There are also wiring diagrams in the Sticky's, to help id the disconnected wire, sorry I can't help more with diagnosis but some one will have the answer for your red wire question. Aflyer |

Is this a Precedent? Can you post a picture of the wire that's not connected?

Re: 2005 Club Car questions
That's the positive lead from the charger receptacle. Cart won't charge unless that wire is hooked up. Cut the wire back until you see good clean copper and crimp a new 5/16" ring terminal on the wire and re install it on the battery. Make sure to flip the tow/run switch to the tow position before you disconnect the battery terminal. Flip it back into run once the job is done.

Edit to say: Get what you are saying now (when I typed the original message, I was looking at the free connector). Trying to also figure out what the other connector is for too. |

Re: 2005 Club Car questions
It definitely won't charge with that wire disconnected, unless you have an onboard charger that is wired into the cart underneath the controller cover.

Thanks, about to go pick one up. I've updated the photo with the connector I am now questioning what it is used for. Any ideas? I know the other side has blue for the lights but not sure what this red one is for. |

Re: 2005 Club Car questions
Wow, that was some serious Corrosion going on there.
David set you up with the fix. I believe the other connector is used when you add a factory light kit. Aflyer |
