Default High Speed Gears

I purchased a 2005 DS IQ with all the service records...Looking through them I noticed at one point high speed gears were installed...The cart will do 20 mph on level ground...I'm assuming that everything else is stock..If I upgrade the controller can I expect more speed and will it have any negative effect on the high speed gears or the stock GE motor...Thanks

It couldn't have any negative effects unless you turned it up beyond the existing equipments' capabilities. I know the Alltrax XCT series controllers can be programmed for your stock motor and then you can tune it up as you upgrade more equipment. Meaning the XCT-48300 IQ is a direct replacement but will give you much more bump because of its tuning capabilities. If you went where most would go and bought the 500 amp version it could be programmed to work with your stock motor and then turned up after a motor upgrade.

The service records actually say "high speed gears"? and not "high speed code"? The reason I ask is because you can get 19.6mph out of an IQ cart without even changing the gears. I can't imagine someone would install gears in one when there is a much easier and cheaper way to get that kind of speed.

Thanks Dave...I agree with you...Yes it states high speed gears installed...It looks like it was done when the cart was originally purchased in 2005...Nothing about a speed code update so I don't know what speed code it is set to.....My concern was over revving the motor GE) if a 400 amp controller was installed along with those gears...Thanks

With high-speed gears the the motor RPM will be less than stock for the same speed.
