Default Just quit...

I have a 98 ezgo with a D&D motor & Alltrex DC500. It has worked beautifully since I installed them a few weeks ago. Today, it had been raining & I backed up the cart to load up some landscaping stuff & it simply quit. I can hear the contactor clicking normally but it will not go forward or reverse. There is a slight burning smell comming from around the contactor or the Alltrax (Hard to tell which). I fear that the controller is burned up. Seems that I read that the controllers were weatherproof. Since the controller wouldn't fit under the old cover, it is mounted flat under the seat. It is not in the rain but will get a bit wet there. Anybody got any ideas as to what to check first?

Check all the connections and make sure they are all good first, check the F/R switch real good.....then jack the rear of the cart up and put it on jackstands, hit the pedal and look for smoke.....I know it sounds hick but if you already smell smoke its not gonna hurt cause the controller is already fried. (if its the controller)

Alltrax controllers are "supposed" to be waterproof. Alltrax has a 2-year warranty on their controllers....if you bought it less than 2 years ago I would contact them and get a replacement.

My Alltrax "gets the hose" every weekend for over 3 years now and never a problem.

Thaks guys... I didn't have time to do anything today except pust it out of the way. I will let it dry out for a couple of days & then see. I did pop the cap on the serial port connector & when I wipe my finger in the hole, I get soot. Not a good sign.... I guess I might be calling Alltrex in a few days.

You half to get a set amount of post to get it to say that on your pf.

Yes...you have to get 300 post to be able to edit your user title.

No not all forums are that way. Most have some sort of user title's or even award systems set up but not all.

I pulled the Alltrax DCX500 & it sure stinks.... That answers the question. I replaced the Alltrax with the stock Curtis controller & the cart runs just fine. I downloaded the RMA form & will call them tomorrow. Since the unit is only a couple of months old, I'm sure that they will take care of it.
