Default 92 Marathon Build Log

I've decided to start a build log on my 92 Marathon. I purchased it for $200 and have started the restore process. I partly restored a 79 Glastron GT 150 speed boat, and I plan on matching the look of it. Now that I have it up and running, I thought I'd start the build log.

It was previously a cart used to pull race cars to the starting line at a track here in Texas. It sat for 3 years and I picked it up at a "get it out of here" price.

First thing I am redoing are the seats. I found some awesome sparkle upholstery vinyl on ebay, these are to match the black sparkle paint that will eventually be on the body. This post was super helpful http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/desig...eat-build.html

I used most of the wood and foam as it was really just the upholstery that was bad. Luckily I also run an instrument manufacturing company, so I have access to powder coating. I've been sandblasting and coating a lot of parts, like these hinges.

It's been a bit slow going. Most of my summer weekend, ok ALL of my summer weekends have been on the boat. Now that it's cooling down I've taken the cart apart and started work. First thing I did was strip the cart down and deal with the rust. I've used POR15 to paint over all the rust frame and it turned out pretty nice. I also needed to weld all of the parts that hold the roof on as the rust made them fall apart.

The frist coat of paint went on this weekend. I chose metallic blue! The body had some dents that didn't take to bondo, so I am going to use a lot of diamond plate to cover it up ;)

I bought a sheet of 4x8 diamond plate aluminum this week and will be cnc milling it tomorrow. Anyone know of any dimensions or cad files for these parts?

The cart is all painted up! I am going to start milling the diamond plate. I picked up a 4x8 sheet of finished aluminum (picture shows the back, the finished side is protected) and cut enough to cover up some of the dents on the side, the rocker panels, and eventually the whole floor. More pics later.

Milled my diamond plate panels last night and bend the sides and front. Going to install today. Still have about 1/2 a sheet of diamond plate left, I think I am going to do the entire floor once I'm done.

All painted and put back together. The diamond plate came out really nice. Next up is to powder coat the wheels black chrome, and I am going to use the rest of the diamond plate to cover the floors.
