Default 94.5 rear hub spleen

Hello. I have a slight problem with my rear axle spleen. One side keeps stripping out the hub, which I am assuming is the drive side. I use my cart in a campground that has paved roads and a couple of steep inclines. There are multiple turns to get from point "A" to point "B". I have just a standard cart, nothing fancy, 8" Sawtooth tires that are on the verge of being extinct, (extreme weather checking). My batteries are old and tired so I cant ever go very fast. I'm going to be replacing my third hub this week.
Do I
A. Get new tires
B. Replace the hub and wait till it does it again
or C. Just get a new/used cart that has newer wheels and batteries
I have no problem working on this cart, it's just the "nickel and dime" syndrome. I know, most of you would get a new cart. I'd love that too. But............

ccguy, the hubs stripping the splines is a common problem, HOWEVER, there is a fix, their are HD hubs that will fix this issue. here is a link to one of our vendors that sells them. You should replace both of them, and then you won't have this issue ever again.

oh and btw.......Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks Sir Nuke. Went up this past week and swapped out the right hub with a new one. I really need new tires. Those flat fairway tires on pavement are meant for the fairway. They're so old and worn my cart hobbles as I'm going down the road. And of course the batteries need to be replaced. I checked the sticker for a date and 5 were from 2002 and one from 2004. I've added acid and distilled water to these multiple times. the plates don't look too bad, but I know how fresh batteries are suppose to run. And these fall way short. I checked the site you mentioned, and looked at that new drum/hub. I'm not knocking the product, but I'm going to start with new/used tires to start. The last hub lasted 2 1/2 yrs., and since I just replaced it.
This looks like a great site for information. Thanks to the site mngr, and everyone else that keeps it going. Great job.
Rick

Rick, a common issue with the OEM hub/drum is lack of torque when installing them. This allows the splines to be sloppy which in turn makes them destroy themselves. Torque them down to at least 125 ft. lbs. before inserting that cotter pin.
