Default Datel DVM wiring options

I just received my Datel DVM. Round style with 2 wire connection. I have a 2007 PDS and was wondering what is best option for wiring.

A: direct wire (on all the time)
B: direct wire with separate on/off toggle
c: wire thru key switch (not sure if I will be getting true reading)

I currently have a bar style SOC meter but have upgraded to 48V and needed new meter.
Best option? would prefer to wire to switch, if I will get an accurate reading.
Thanks Dave

In a stock PDS, the voltage to the keyswitch comes from the controller, so it may vary a bit from pack voltage.

Check it to be sure.

I'm not stock, following upgrades alltrax 500 controller, ge 1162, hd 400amp solenoid, weld leads for cables and delta q charger. so is the voltage coming thru switch going to be what the pack actually is?

I don't think so. I have a dedicated pair of 16ga wires (with a fuse) running from the pack to behind the dash, which I now have switched by a relay, activated by the key switch. I measure my voltage from that, but as the accessories I've installed will load that wire so I'm going to see what impact they have. If needed, I'll run a 2nd, dedicated pair just for the DVM to make sure that it's reading straight off the pack..

The pack voltage goes through the fuse in the charging loop (if it exists), the Reed switch, the Run/Tow switch, the F/R switch and a diode, plus four in-line connectors before it gets to the keyswitch.

The diode alone drops the voltage by 0.6V, which is roughly 15% SoC.

I ran my DVM battery meter straight to the battery pack and it has been running almost continuously for about 2 years with no visible degradation in readability.

OK, straight to the pack and probably put in a fuse and
A toggle switch to turn on and off.
Thanks
