Default controler issues

can my controller run the batteries down, have 2002 txt cart, batteries are weak and will need to be replaced but i have a drain on the system all the time,
is this normal ?

no and no.

The function of this speed control is to limit the motor's access to the battery pack amperage. The default limit is zero amperage. And the throttle input signal tells the controller to raise this limit.

Clean your batteries with baking soda and water mix. Acid build-up on batteries can provide a direct path to frame and each other draining some or all batteries.

This is very true......you should always keep your battery cases dry and free of dirt/dust. I take a look every time I lift the seat when charging the batteries....if I have been doing some off-roading, which gets a little in there, I will drag out the shop vac and clean it up a bit.
