Default Need help with a cart's value please.

Might be looking at a cart tonight, it would be my first electric. 1993 Marathon, good condition, no rear seat, supposed to be a good runner with 2-3 year old batteries. Stock wheels and tires, with bag rack and basket. Looks clean from the pics, but you never know about rust underneath. Let's assume it's "normal" underneath with minimal rust.

What price range would you expect on something like this?

Prices range quite a bit based on local availability. Check CL to see what they're going for. Ask the owner how he treated his batteries. Some folks think they only need to be charged once or twice a week. They believe they need to be drained before recharging. Not true for deep cycle lead acid batteries. That is a HUGE investment if they're bad. Check voltage of each battery and electrolyte levels.

Look at each battery cable and for rust on the battery box. Look for fresh grease on the zerks. That may give you an indication of proper maintenance. Also, steering and brakes are wear items. See how well they work.

Ok, thanks. But are there no opinions on price? What would one expect to pay for a good condition 1993 Marathon?

I don't know what, if any, help this will be. I have seen them on Craigslist, in like condition, range from $600 to $1800 and even more. Were it me, I would compare it to a similar TXT, (similar condition that is), and reduce the expected price by 1/3 to 1/2.
My evaluation would be based upon throwing out the entire drive system, from the motor forward, and bringing it completely up to date. And that would be just for casual, around the block, around the course use.

That's a good way of determining value. I kinda use the same method for some other things like trucks and trailers. The asking price on the cart I'm looking at is $750. Thought that was fair assuming it's not beat up or rusted out.

With good batts thats a fair asking price, its a 93 so should be a controller cart. i built my son a 92, with 400 amps at 48 volt he loves it in the woods.

I paid $700 for a 1994 EZGO marathon back in 2007. Was a bone stock cart with controller. Was in great shape, seller had new battery trays welded in. Was one of my favorite carts. I'm addicted to projects so I sold it to buy another project.
