Default Onboard Battery Charger

Are there any new onboard chargers that have been developed in the past two years? I have to carry the charger to my cart for each charge and having an onboard would be very handy for me. I do not do any off road or rough terrain use so being jarred around is not an issue.

Lester makes the only one I have seen that stands the test of time, about $200 more than a regular charger.

Quick Charge

Best prices here:

I believe these are the best on-board charger available for the money. I have had several from 36-72 volts. Buy the most amps you can afford for fastest charge times. They all have maintenance charge feature after it shuts off to keep batteries perfect during long times without use. That feature isn't available on the lithium profile.

Thanks for the link. Those look pretty bullet proof.

I looked into bolting my EZ-GO charger on the driver's side under the seat. Seemed like enough room, and the old ones are probably immune to bumps, with the possible exception of the relay and ammeter. Cost is free. You could hard-wire it and change the charger port into a male 120 vac plug.

I have the Powerwise QE charger which would bolt down easily. It has worked flawlessly but I treat is gingerly because I have read about these breaking very easily.

The charger was too heavy and the plug too difficult for my wife to use.

So I mounted the charger in the bag well. Made a hold down bracket out of aluminum bar stock, added a corded reel and hard wired to the battery pack through a switch mounted under the seat.

Hasn't been an issue yet, but i planned on changing the switch out to only allow cart operation if the charger was switched off. Hopefully switching off is a reminder to unplug.

For now though I usually just drape the cord over the seat.

I bought a used Quickcharge for my TXT on eBay for $125. Older model but works great. Guy had several.

I have a question about the size of the charger. Most seem to suggest the biggest AMP rating. The speed of the charge is not important. I plug it in late afternoon or evening and let it charge overnight. The price difference between a 15 AMP charger and the highest rated 36v charger is quite a bit. I have black box Trojans which I think are 210 ah rated. Would the 15amp charger do the job for me?
