Exclamation 2001 club car ds gas runs then stops

Help please! I bought this gas cart not to long ago ran fine then one day just shut down while driving it. So I read online and did couple things like replaced micro switchs all 5 of them, both belts, fuel lines and filters, air filter, and drained gas cleaned tank. The cart is lifted with Kawasaki gas engine in it. When the cart shuts down I hit the gas peddle and it try's to run but dose not get the clutch revved up enough to engage. So I will mess with the shifter and some times it will take off and run about 15 feet dies again. Is it the coil do u think. I flipped the nubbber bracket also would that be causing it. The cart has a 6" lift I think with 26x9r12 tires. I read to flip the bracket so engine will sit flat. Any info will help thanks

Welcome. You will often see"cover the basics: spark, fuel, compression ". To check for fuel you can spray a little carb cleaner or starting fluid to see if it will run for a moment on that. To check spark you can use a spark tester, or even a spare spark plug on the plug wire and touched to ground to verify if you have spark. Check those first, let us know what you find and we can try to help you from there.

My Money is on the coil,,

Seen this situation alot with a failing coil...
When the coil is cold, It will fire, but once it warms up it stops firing...

You say you checked for spark when it ran, Spark was there.. Then you said it died and tested again with no spark present...
There is your Problem...

Thanks,

Ant....

Yes,
could be Rev limiter as well,
The rev limiter and coil work together..
they say when you change the coil you should also change the rev limiter..
One could kill the other..
I suggest you swap both of them as a set...
Actually I have seen a kit where they are sold together and you will save some money this way... Instead of buying them separate...

Thanks,

Ant...

When testing the rev limiter, YOU MUST REMOVE THE GROUND WIRE, Disconnecting the black wires proves nothing...

When disconnecting the rev what would I be looking for. Should I get it to stop running or wait till it's cold so it's sparking. Thanks for the help guys

Disconnect the ground wire when cold.. Then run cart and if it dies again you know its not the rev limiter...
