Default g16 noise from rear end/clutch?

Came home from work and noticed a noise in the back of cart. Sounds like a vibration or something. I can't tell exactly where it came from. When I put the cart in between forward and reverse, so neutral, and press the gas, evertime it makes the noise the cart moves slightly. Like its trying to engage. Any ideas what it could be?

If the cart is trying to move you may not be centered up between gears. Your best bet is to get the back end up on jack stands so you can run it in gear to watch & listen.

So I opened up the diff plug and it was bone dry. Dang. I put oil in and the noise seemed to stop. Hopefully I didn't do too much damage.

I don't see any leaks but I think the previous owner didn't fill it when he swapped rear ends with another cart. Seems to be sounding good so far.

I didn't measure, I just filled it up on level ground until it started to drain out of the plug opening. That is the correct way to do it right?
