G1 Delayed Start
So I have a 1984 G1 Yamaha Gas Golf Car. I've done extensive cleaning and painting on it. I'm pretty attached. I'm having a problem where I press the pedal and it takes like 1-2 minutes before it starts. It is strange bc after I ride it and park it starts up immediately. But the next day it is this long delay again. The battery has 12v.

Re: G1 Delayed Start
Wow a 1-2 minute delay literally? Lol could be accelerator cable to carb adjustment issue or even something silly like cold weather. It sounds like once you get it running for a while, then park it, and then jump back in and it runs right away sort of seems like it needed to get hot enough. Because over night the next day it would get cold again

Re: G1 Delayed Start
It is cold. I was just alarmed because it never did that. Used to be I pressed the gas and I heard the solenoid click and it started.

Re: G1 Delayed Start
This delay is with the engine able to crank over? I mean it is doing something, cranking, but not starting, right?

Re: G1 Delayed Start
This may not be an issue but double check the starter belt and make sure it's not slipping either. I have tried to run a car before due to the belt slipping for a minute

Re: G1 Delayed Start
No it does nothing. No click nothing. It just lurches for ward and starts after long delay. In reverse it just buzzes and I hold gas down. After loooing delay it starts. After i run it for 30mins it starts right away after stopping

Re: G1 Delayed Start
Hmm your starter may have an issue but you say the solenoid doesn't click either so you need to start there before the starter
