Default G29 Hole in Piston

I am rebuilding my G29 for low compression. As I started breaking it down I expected a ring issue. What I see is a hole in the piston.

What would cause this. I have attached a picture of it.

I don't believe that is a hole, just a casting mark...but I could be wrong. What I can see is the unbalance of the piston in the bore. You just won't know till you pull the piston and check the bore. I have the advantage of honing and installing standard ring and check for ring end gap. But a good test is hone and slide the piston in and check for abnormal play. Hate to say it, but it looks like an .25 over piston and a bore job.

Thanks for the info. I just got my .25 kit. Just waiting on the clutch removal tool to get here to break it down completely and send it off for the bore job.

It's not a hole, don't worry.
