g9 gas smell
Old Yamaha G9.I believe I am getting a gas smell from the gas tank venting system. No leaks to the carb all hoses good. Little or no smell while riding just after parking it. It looks like the gas tank vent system just goes into the air. Any suggestions or mods I can do. The wife really hates the gas smell in her garage if we park in in there when its warm. After it cools down no smell so I think hot engine compartment is means pressure in the tank thus venting. Just got the cart last year. Dont want to have to go electric because of the little odor.

Re: g9 gas smell
I would double check the bottom of the tank where the fuel filter screws in, I replaced my fuel filter ( which screws in the bottom of the tank) and had a hell of a time getting the threads to seal properly.
kept getting a Very Slow leak that was barely noticeable but did smell. the tank comes out easy enough if you need to pull it. I would suggest not removing the fuel filter if its not leaking. I ended up tearing out the old fuel filter and putting the cap back on with a lot of gasket sealent in the threads of the cap and putting an inline fuel filter in. good luck |
