Serial number location?
I'm a newbie and I just bought what the seller says is a 1979 Yamaha G1.
I've looked on the frame behind the rear bumper and can't locate it. Any suggestions? |

Try the main frame member between the rear shock upper mounts.

Well **** I looked all over that frame, can't find it. Guess I'll have to trust the guy I bought it from. Compression is only 85 so I'm gonna get a rebuild kit for the top end.
It'll climb a hill in reverse but won't do it going forward. |

Better make sure it's not a '82 (the oddball year for G1) before you order any parts.

You can identify a '82 without a serial number. Especially if you order a jug for all the other G1 engines & discover it won't fit your '82.

Does your car have steel or plastic inner rear fenders? Does anyone know how many posts are needed from a member before they can post pictures?
