Fuel pump dies (yamaha G16)
I can do 9 hole then fuel pump dies, or compression from engine either doesn't push it or the compression goes somewhere else. Is there a value in the head to close or open pressure?

Re: Fuel pump dies (yamaha G16)
While it is, of course, possible for the fuel pump to fail be sure to check everything else. In my experience pump failures are pretty rare. Is the "pulse" line from the engine giving consistent pressure/vacuum pulses? Pick up tube from the tank clear? When it dies, have you pulled the fuel line lose from the carb to verify a lack of fuel flow (takes just a small trickle)? Stuck float/needle valve can keep fuel from flowing into the carb. Have you tried shot of carb cleaner/either to see if it fires up on that when it's died?
There is no valve for the pulse line, but if it has too much "sag" in the line they can fill with oil and mess with the pulse. It would have to be a pretty long line to do that on a G16, but it's more common on some other carts. I guess my first suggestion is to try to verify if it is indeed a fuel issue. When it runs fine for a while then dies when it gets good and hot, that's often an ignition failure. |

Re: Fuel pump dies (yamaha G16)
Every time it dies there is no fuel in the filter, one mechanic said that the g16 was a high compression motor and that there was a relief or bump valve from the head to carb just don't know

No fuel in the filter is how the system works, I wish I had a dollar every time someone changed their fuel pump because of this. You need to check it when the cart stops and see if the pump is not working. |

Re: Fuel pump dies (yamaha G16)
G22A (and all 357cc models) have a compression release built into the cam. The G16A did not have a compression release (and didn't have 357cc engine).

Re: Fuel pump dies (yamaha G16)
So it goes 9 holes then won't fire up? Does it start again after it sits for a while? If so....probably the TCI.

Re: Fuel pump dies (yamaha G16)
when it dies loosen the fuel cap, on mine my vent quit working and if air cant get in fuel cant come out, this stumped me for a while, listen closely when loosening cap also watch tank to see if the sides move.
