Steering wheel play
93 DS gas. Just put in mad Jax 6” lift with 23” tires. I’ve noticed the steering is pretty sloppy, and pretty susceptible to bump steer. Just feels a little squirrelly when driving around. Like there is some float/play in the steering. Everything is tight in the front end, from what I can tell. Any ideas?

Re: Steering wheel play
Check the toe-in and camber. Alignment being out can cause it to do all sorts of squirrely stuff.
Any time you put a lift kit on, it's always a good idea to set it close by eye, don't go crazy. Take it for a 20 minute drive and then check the measurements without jacking it up in the air. Suspension needs to settle in a bit for a true measurements or.it will never be right. |

Re: Steering wheel play
Some carts just don't like lifts. I've done Ezgo and Yamaha for years and never could find one that didn't handle like crap. The only one that was good was the Jakes LT kit, but it even had a little bump steer. I'm very particular with how my carts handle and can't stand that "squirelly" feeling you talk about. It's down right dangerous at speed. I ended up making my own front end out of an atv suspension, handles like butter. These golf carts just weren't designed for lift and travel.
Now, that doesn't mean we can't help you get better handling. Can you post some good pics of the suspension and steering? |

Re: Steering wheel play
So, I have more toe than I want. I’m closer to an inch, and can’t go any further. I am at the limit for pulling the tie rod in... any suggestions?

Re: Steering wheel play
Without seeing it in person, it's hard to say for me. I've never installed one of those lifts. Ive installed a few steeling 6" lifts and never had a problem. Maybe someone more familiar with the Jake's would be able to help?
