Default 97 carryall with Kawasaki FE290 won’t turn off

I need to brain storm

I’m working on a local farmers 96 carryall with the Kawasaki FE290 in it

Was getting hot and then had no spark

So I ordered new ignition coil and rev limiter...
installed and then ran fine but wouldn’t shut off

Disconnected the rev limiter and tried to ground the kill wire off the ignition coil and still no shut off

Pulled the engine out and clamped to bench, spun it over to fire it up with shields off, tried to ground direct to ignition coil to engine block and still no stall...
WTF am I missing here

Defective coil. If you did as you say the kill wire terminal isn't connected inside the coil.

That’s what I thought...
So I bought a second ignition coil from a completely different stOre and it is exactly the same as the first new coil that I bought, according to the test instructions that came with the ignition coil they are to spec

Try running a new or jumper wire from the coil and test by the new wire.

not the right way of fixing it, but, have you considered backing off the idle stop so that it just shuts down because of fuel starvation?
