Default Auto shut off DS Gas.

Is there any benefit on the auto shut off when the ecelorator is not pressed?

Im asking because most of the use of the cart will be dusk/night time use with lights on.

Does the motor charge in idling mode? or does it need to spin at a certain RPM?

I have done the mod on mine to let it keep running while in neutral or without throttle pressed. I also have a battery monitor on mine and the voltage doesn't start to increase above 12.5(ish) until the RPM's rise above what I think are about 1000. But, if you have LED lights, they draw very little amperage and you could operate them for quite a while on just minimal battery voltage. You could put a DVM on yours and monitor when you see the voltage go up in regards to your RPM's.

Correct. A stock starter generator will not charge at idle speed, i just isn't spinning fast enough. Again keep in mind they were originally intended as GOLF CARTS: Drive a few yards down the fairway, get off and hit the ball, drive on to the next spot to again get off and hit the ball. For it's originally intended purpose the "pedal start" system works great. As cpcodbuggy said, with LED lights your current draw would be minimal and shouldn't be a problem unless you are leaving it with lights on for Loooong periods of time. The ignition system on the DS creates it's own power for spark independently of the generator, so the engine continuing to run is not a problem.
