Default Help with wiring on a carry all 272 pedal start

I have a 2005 club car 272, probably club cars version of a gator. It has the bucket seats and differential lock. It is a pedal start cart, I know this because of the yellow W/O ACR sticker on the motor. The problem is its acting like a key start cart. Which is fine, but it only will crank up in forward. If its in neutral or reverse it wont do anything. Once it cranks up in forward, you have to give it a little gas otherwise it just dies out . Once you can give it gas in forward and crank it you have to move quickly into reverse before it dies out again. Once it gets going, it runs great in forward and reverse. Inside the black box by the battery I can see the two bolts sticking up where there was a micro switch at some point. But its gone now. I don't see any cut wires in the box that look like they would even plug into a switch.

I thought maybe the key switch was bad but these club cars have a plug in key switch, unlike the 4 or 5 prong key switch that is on regular golf carts. When I search for a wiring diagram I cant find any clear images of a pedal start cart.

I bought this cart at an auction so I have no idea why it was wired strange.

Any help or suggestions is much appreciated. Thank you
Picture is of inside box. Maybe someone will see something that might be of help.

Sounds like a problem with the limit switch on the back of the FnR lever.
Should have two there. One is for the reverse buzzer, it should be closest to the front. The other is for the Starter circuit.
Check to see if it has a yellow knob on the back and that it’s not in maintenance mode.
If the lever is out of adjustment or the yellow knob is missing/damaged, or turned the wrong way it will only start in one position, or not start at all.

Well I spun that both ways to see if it made any difference and it didn’t. Could the micro switch be bad? And if so, only the one towards the rear of the cart? Any clue on the missing micro switch in the electrical box? What about the pedal start cart starting with a key and doing nothing when I press the pedal? Very odd problems. I’ll check the micro switch, swap it with another I have. See if that does anything. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for your help.

I hadn’t paid enough attention before, but missing switches are a bit odd, even more so because all of the wiring for them is also gone. Not sure exactly what’s going on there because I’m not totally sure how things should be in that cart.

Can you post a picture of the wiring at the switches on the FnR?

Interesting... I'm looking at a 2003 CC 272 Illustrated Parts List wiring diagram,
2 micros in the Components Box for a pedal start, and no micros for a key start.

Question... Does the key switch have off, on, and start positions?
If so... then it IS a key start cart, and the engine might have been swapped out at one time.

Here's the IPL that I'm looking at, download it, and click on "Electrical System",
it shows wiring for both pedal start and key start carts.

Hope this helps!

Here is a picture of the micro switches under the seat. Nothing unusual. I don't think. I've spun the yellow thing every way I could. No difference.

Thanks for the parts list. Ill check it out.
It had crossed my mind that the motor was swapped out. But this came from the huge resort in Orlando and usually they don't swap motors. They just send them to the auctions. The hour meter only has 1200 hours on it. No one there making minimum wage cares enough to swap hour meters or motors. They run the cart around and then just park it. Though it is possible.

If you look at the key switch for these carts it has a 4 or 5 wire plug in on the back. Its not a prong key switch like most carts.

Does the key switch have a momentary start position?

I looked at it this morning and yes, the label on the key switch does say on off start. Maybe the motor was switched out. Would it be ok to just put a on /off switch in it and it work correctly?

Before I cut the factory wires for the key switch, could I just put two jumper wires on the solenoid to emulate a on /off key switch and see if that would solve the problem? Probably not that simple without the micro switches on the circuit? If I could do that to test it, if it worked then I could just put an on /off key switch. Any thoughts?
