Can't lube lifted EZGO front end
My golf cart is an EZGO gas with custom lift kit (see picture) I'm having trouble lubing the front end main shaft on both sides (see other picture) I don't know what to call this shaft, but the picture should explain what I'm talking about. . These shafts won't take any grease. I've removed the zerts and cleaned them, but still not able to force any grease into the shafts. Anybody have any tricks for how to get grease into these shafts without removing them?

Welcome to BGW!
Cleaning the fittings won't help unless you get the spring loaded ball to move in and out. They have a tendency to freeze up. I take a sharp awl and push in on the ball to free it up, then the fitting will accept the grease from the gun. |

I removed the zerts and cleaned them and then tested them by attaching the grease gun and pumped the grease through the zert.

Re: Can't lube lifted EZGO front end
There is likely corrosion or dirt blocking the hole behind the zerk,or the bushing/pin has wear-damage.We used to run into this on heavy trucks all the time.If you have an air hammer, pressurise the zerk with a grease gun, then slightly rattle the spindle with the air hammer, alot of times this will clear the obstruction. Otherwise, remove the king-pin and clean it and the bore.Hope this helps.

By your description, they should work fine. Is this an older cart that perhaps has never been lubed before? Grease CAN become very solid over time and neglect. I'm fishing here.

My cart is a 1999 model. It's possible that the old grease inside the King Pins has solidified.

Just in case: Is there any advice on how to remove and replace the king pins?

Re: Can't lube lifted EZGO front end
Good News! I followed the advice of Pachanga90. I own a grease gun and the shop in the RV Resort I stay at had an air hammer. I flooded the King Pins with penetrating oil all day yesterday, then, today, I pumped the gun while a friend applied the air hammer and the king pins finally took a lubrication. Thanks the help.
