1982 ezgo cart

just replaced a blown piston in my 82 cart ---have notice after that oil from the reservoir not getting to carb for mixture--also engine runs forward but not in reverse. QUESTIONS --CAN I JUST PUT OIL IN THE GAS TANK AND WHY DOESNT ENGINE START UP IN REVERSE . not a mechanic per se !!!!WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP -----THX

I blew the engine on my boat due to the oil not getting mixed. When I had it rebuilt, I had them remove all the oil inject stuff and just premix the gas. I have had no issues with that motor since. It's a 3 cylinder Yamaha 70hp in case you want to know.

You should not have any issues just pre-mixing the fuel/oil. I mix 40:1 for the boat.

EZgo oil mix is 128:1. They usually run in reverse, and not forward when a crankshaft seal is worn.

Did you put the piston in with the hole towards the intake port?

thanx for the help!!!! 128:1 wwhat does that mean in ounces per gallon)? Pretty sure piston is in correctely . Sure hope so any way !!! At $225 for a top end id hate to blow it again. Would that have anything to do with it not running in reverse?

128:1 is 1 ounce per gallon.

This is rounded enough to be reasonable... 40:1 is 3 ounces per gallon.

thx for the help !!!! Son has a 38 ft fountain center console with 3 mercs on the back--goes fast!!! Thx again
