Cold starts
EZGO dcs. When weather is very cold, rev works fine, but fwd will not go. Cart shudders and stalls until warmed up, Usually by driving in rev for 3 or 4 minutes.

Re: Cold starts
Sounds like maybe moisture in the F-N-R? Since it runs in reverse just fine you know that the motor, cables, throttle and solenoid are good.
So to me that really leaves the controller and F-N-R. |

Re: Cold starts
A stock DCS controller (Curtis 1206SX) defaults to Forward and has to be told to go into Reverse by placing battery pack voltage on the orange wire, Pin-4.
The only difference external to the controller between Forward and Reverse in a DCS drive is the direction the amps flow in the Field windings. Sounds like the controller's output to the Field windings is bad in Forward. The stock DCS controller was a faulty design, so replace it with an Alltrax XCT48400 or larger controller. |
