Default 1997 EZGO TXT DCS grinding noise in rear, from above differential

Grinding noise in rear and loss of power was intermittent for a while, would go away for a while. Now always does it, cart barely moves. I pulled the hubs, splines are fine. Hubs counter-rotate, but did notice some play on right side. Had spouse hold brake & apply power, noise appeared to be coming from above differential, where motor bolts in. Pulled motor, checked the coupling -- splines look good (pics attached). Now what?

Just how do I pull the input shaft? Not obvious to me, so any help would be appreciated.

After you remove the snap ring if you can not get the shaft to come out search the forum for JohnnieB answer to how to "remove input shaft"

Thanks for the help, all. Couldn't see the snap ring for all the crud. Will be a couple of days before I can get back to work on the buggy, but will let you know what I find.

Well, it wasn't the input shaft. So put it back together and took to my local cart repair shop. The tech said that my batteries (6 years old) were just going bad, and the motor can make that noise when the batteries drop. Had him install a new set of batteries, and the buggy's as good as new. Lesson learned .
My cart didn't have a battery status indicator, but it does now .

Now that you saw the axle, did you think about giving it some fresh oil? Any idea when that was last done? If you don't know, it's due for a change.

I changed the differential oil last week after bringing the cart home, but thanks for the reminder.
