Default 1996 TXT pedal issue

Trying to help a friend that doesn't do internet much. He has a 1996 TXT 36v.

Started experiencing an issue yesterday. Pedal intermittently began sticking in the down position. Also, instead of accelerating slowly, when pushed down it will 'take off' at what seems like full speed instead of slowly ramping up.

He also mentioned the controller became very hot and produced a burning smell.

He said the cart would run for a while then quit. Then run after sitting but quit again. Something overheating, then cooling and allowing cart to operate until heat builds again?

Thoughts? Need any additional info? Thanks in advance!

Forgot to mention it is a Series cart (F&R) mounted on front seat panel, not on dash.

Since I didn't get any responses I thought I would share what we found. Changed the inductive sensor for the throttle and the accelerator micro switch and all seems to be back to normal..

Hopefully this will help anyone with a similar issue in the future..

Thanks for following up. It's rare that the ITS coil goes bad. Why was the pedal sticking?

Apparently the inductive sensor had been hit (off center) and contacting the rod. This is second hand info from my friend who owns it.
