EZGO Electric Motor Testing
I have a 2002 EZGO TXT Electric. I have a short in the drive circuit. When testing the motor I am getting on my ohm meter approx. 1 meg from A1 to F1 and Fi to motor frame 62K. I would assume to frame I would think I should see infinite resistance. My thought is my motor is shorted...
Any thoughts, Thanks, Ken |

Re: EZGO Electric Motor Testing
62k is attributed to carbon dust inside the motor, and it's slight conductance. I would consider it normal. If you were to disassemble the motor, and blow all the dust out (use air only) this 62k number would get much bigger (less connection).

Re: EZGO Electric Motor Testing
For the level of inspecting and cleaning you need, just remove motor, and look for bolts on the outer edge of the motor "cap" (the end farthest from axle). After bolts removed, just pick up the cap (armature comes with it, will be heavy). If it's stuck, rap it with a chunk of wood to break it loose. Be sure to put a locating mark to ensure correct "clocking" during reassembly. Do not breathe the dust, it is super irritating, and probably causes cancer if you live in California.
