Series motors will run on 36 or 48. 48 really lights them up in some instances. But the Marathon motors where pretty weak to begin with even when new.

The controller spec says it will run from 33-48v so I guess I'm pretty safe there

Now THAT I DO know....

Just about any 36v series motor, (what you have) will run on 48v.

It will generate more power (torque) and speed than when driven by 36 v.

That said, RPM is the devil in the mix.. bearings and the armature staying together in this new hi-power environment are the concern... NEVER, EVER letting the motor approach 6000 (maybe even less for an older motor) is required.. a common failure mode ( I can speak from experience here) is to be zipping along WOT (FWO if you're from Texas) and then go down a hill, thus over-reving the motor... mine (and others) literally came apart...

But, good part, the stock 36v motors are cheap and widely available....

Drop a note to Scottyb (site sponsor and all around good guy) for your solenoid, resistor, diode and reverser needs... Ebay aint the best price if you have to buy it twice ...... just my $0.02...

What I meant to say is the controller will handle 33-48v.

Is there anyone out there who has ran with one of these controllers or something similar? Apparently these aren't a favourite of some people.

Is there anyway to program a Curtis controller besides the handheld device?

I can answer that question, No. Hand held device, or computer software with the correct cable to connect.

Not all Curtis controllers are programmable. Most of the early type were not programmable.

The unit have, 1205M, programmable. I guess I have to trust that it won't need alot of adjustment. I stuck with it. Does anyone know if they run okay out of the box?

Why are you asking questions in campy380 user name. And then answering in 420ma user name ?? Is this 92 marathon the same cart you have been asking questions about for a 93 marathon. Do you have two carts a 92 and a 93??
