This might help:

Replacing the Park Brake on an E-Z-GO RXV

Remove the two T27 torx screws on the rear cover
Choke the wheels
Disconnect the negative cable on the battery pack
Turn the ignition key to reverse, wait till the reverse indicator becomes silent then turn key off
Disconnect wire harness from motor brake
Remove the three 10mm hex screws and lock washers from brake
If bolts are rusty replace them
Remove brake if there is residue on motor be sure to clean it use a wire brush
Position the brake with the connector at the top, install the three hex screws loosely.
Connect wire harness to the motor brake, re-connect battery negative cable
Turn ignition to neutral, turn Run/Tow switch to Tow position, this provides power to the brake to align the disc material
Set torque wrench between 53 to 65 in. lbs (6-8 Nm) and tighten screws to sure not to over tighten
Turn key back to the off position
Move Run/Tow switch back to Run position
Put rear back cover on

George,
I am new to this also.
I ordered my new brake from Ebay $119. Beware of non-OEM junk at higher prices. Read the reviews. Some stated to be OEM but are not.
Also ordered new EZGO OEM solenoid on Ebay. Beware of non OEM junk. Read the reviews. Some stated to be OEM but are not.
Why a new solenoid? Because the solenoid and brake mechanisms cycle simultaneously with each switch key movement. New solenoid $32 to go with your new brake might prevent a future headache.

I've been there.
A few taps at different places on the sides of the brake cylinder w/ a hammer worked for me. Remember, the brake gizmo has been there a long time and exposed to whatever it was driven over. Lotsa crud.

Perhaps a few beers would help?

When I replace a brake I mostly follow the procedure posted by usgicollector but I do a few things differently. I don't disconnect the battery. I just make sure the key is off when I unplug and plug in the brake connector. When installing the brake I slide it on the motor shaft and then plug in the connector. Put the key in neutral and the tow switch in tow. That will make it much easier to align and install the three bolts. Tighten the bolts to the minimum torque or just until the lock washers are compressed if you don't have a torque wrench. Tighten the bolts with it in tow mode.

Since it seems like you have some corrosion holding the brake to the motor, be sure and clean it off before you install the new brake.

Not too bad, but I never energize the brake before I have the three bolts started into the motor.

*********WARNING ******

If brake is stuck on motor- the lug on end of motor is corroded/rusted/gooped-up...

this will cause brake to drag as the brake plate/disk cannot move freely.

just installing new brake = new brake failure.

You must clean motor lug and end of motor (wire brush on drill works well) before you install new brake.

do not overtighten.

Good luck.
