Default Series Motor on a DCS Cart

Cart is confusing me. It is a 98 TXT.

It has a motor with terminals labeled S1 and S2, which suggests series

Cart has R/T switch on controller cover which suggests Sepex

Controller is 73144G03 which googles to 1206-SX Series controller

Two smaller wires coming from controller hooked to S1 and S2 which suggests both series and Sepex

Has Hockey Puck F/R switch which suggests DCS.

I am totally confused on this one,

It's a DCS cart 1995-1998

Yes, I saw that before I posted. Per your diagram, it is a DCS SEPEX.

So I am wondering did they miss-label some motors with S1 & S2 Terminals or otherwise someone put a Series motor on a Sepex Cart.

In the case of the latter, what if they tried to run the series with SEPEX, would it have fried the controller?

believe it or not.....the DCS motors are labeled the same as series motors, but if you looked inside, you can see that they ARE sepex motors.(the way that they are wound is different)

Yes, I had read that there were some sepex labeled with s1 and s2, was not sure how common that was. That make it tough, only way to know for sure is pull motor and look

Are the S1/S2 studs the same size as the A1/A2 studs on the DCS motor? (I can't tell from the pictures I've seen of DCS motors)
If the S1/S2 studs are smaller than the A1/A2 studs like the F1/F2 studs are on a PDS and other sepex motors, that would be a difference that is visible without pulling motor.

Otherwise, the only external indicator would be the part number.

They appear to be same side, I will try to clean nameplate for part number

Yes the S terminals were the same size as the A terminals, You Gotta remember the DCS was the worlds first stab at Sepex drive

Yes, but it was not the first Sepex D.C. Motor and the thing that surprises me is that A1, A2, F1, F2, S1, S2 nomenclature goes way back with electric motors in general.

I would have thought any mass produced motors would have been correctly labeled per NEMA standards. It is hard enough to help and teach relative newbies like me to find and fix problems when things are CORRECTLY labeled, LOL.

To be fair, it still may be a series Motor, I have not been able to get model number.

rockfordpi, I just built a DCS cart last fall for my nephew.....It was my first DCS and had a few questions you had.....specifically about the motor posts and labeling.....I took the motor off and could easily see by the windings that it was a sepex motor and not a series motor.....

SO if you are not going to take the info from the two most informative guys on this forum, what you need to do for your piece of mind, is to remove the motor and see for yourself.
