Marathon Brake Switch - Easy Install
I was looking at the various threads about Marathon brake switch retrofits, and wanted to find an easier way. I have access to a welder, but don't like to use it unless absolutely necessary.
So, I came up with what I think is a much easier way. I'm using a switch that others here have used. It's a universal motorcycle brake switch. (K&S Universal Motorcycle Spring Type Brake Light Switch 12-0001) |

Re: Marathon Brake Switch - Easy Install
I decided to mount it in the bracket that holds the front of the brake cable housings.

Re: Marathon Brake Switch - Easy Install
After mounting the switch, I modified the spring length to use the center cotter pin as the spring attachment point.

Final adjustment completed.
Two pics: one with brake pedal released, and the next with it depressed. Works like a champ, and no welding! |

GREAT install and right up.....I will be saving this thread so that when/if I end up putting brake lights on my cart (it already has 2 element rear light)...THIS is way I will do it.
and I googles the switch....and you can even get one off of Amazon for $8.91!! https://www.amazon.com/12-0001-Unive.../dp/B00230D6KQ |

Re: Marathon Brake Switch - Easy Install
I'm guessing you have the lights setup so they are powered down whenever key is off. This arrangement would be a problem otherwise, brake lights always on whenever parked.

I'm not using it for golfing, so the key will be removed (which cuts all vehicle power) when I park/stop. But, I just installed some LED tail lights (see pics) that draw so little, I could use it for golfing. These lights can stay on for days with the little power they draw. |
