Default Stuttering - Please diagnose

Cart is stuttering at take off. Feels like a disconnect but after the stutter runs fine at full speed with no issue.

Ideas/Suggestions are appreciated. Solenoid and wiring into looked ok at first glance, I did get a burning/smokey smell when the problem started.

Thanks all

Make sure all connections are clean and snug. What cart is it?

I've had this in one of my carts turned out to be a bad cell in one of the batteries. I'm assuming this is your new 2014 cart? does it have new batteries? It wouldn't hurt to do a load test on each battery as well as entire pack voltage after charge sitting for about 12 hours to make sure you are good in the battery department. Could be something more electrical related but I always like to start with simple easy to do stuff first.

Stuttering at take-off is almost always a battery issue. Measure the battery voltage directly at the B+ and B- terminals of your controller WHILE the cart is stuttering. You will probably see the voltage drop substantially at take-off. Battery voltage must always be measured under load. If you see a voltage drop of several volts, repeat the measurement procedure at each battery individually until you locate the bad battery.

Thanks biphase - I checked all battery cables this morning and two of the bolts were loose - added a lock washer and get them tightened up again, hoping it resolves issue. Will report back after a long run.

So it's not the battery cables - still getting the stutter. I tossed an Admiral motor on but kept the OEM controller and solenoid - never really trusted the shop that said 'that's fine to do' and have to assume thats the culprit.

Will upgrade to a new controller and solenoid package with ScottyB and see if it resolves issue.

Worn motor brushes can cause stuttering but your carts seem kinda new for that.

Have you measured the voltage at the B+ and B- terminals of the controller WHILE the cart is stuttering?
