Re: Stuttering - Please diagnose
It would point to a battery issue. You really should do it before investing in a controller. You will have to find a way to attach your voltmeter leads to B+ and B- so that you can measure the voltage while the cart is stuttering.

Re: Stuttering - Please diagnose
You don't have to remove the cover from the controller, just attach meter leads where the B+ and B- cables attach to the controller. If it is easier you can attach to B+ and B- at the battery pack but that measurement point would fail to include the effect of the solenoid contacts and the cables between the batteries and the controller.

Re: Stuttering - Please diagnose
gotcha - thanks - will try that - what I'm looking for is the DVM voltage reading when it stutters vs when it doesnt?

Yes. I suspect you will see the voltage dropping substantially wile the cart is stuttering.

Re: Stuttering - Please diagnose
no - the batteries are 5 months old - took them from my old cart. The charging issue turned out to be a bad charger. I got a new charger and it clicked on immediately

Re: Stuttering - Please diagnose
bi phase - I do have a DVM on the cart - how much of a drop in voltage am I looking for? The pack of course drops when pedal is pressed - should it be 2 or 3x the normal?
I may hook another up as you're saying to controller to see voltage through solenoid - just wondering how much of a drop I am looking to see. thanks |

Re: Stuttering - Please diagnose
What is the "normal" drop that you are seeing? If a voltage drop is causing the stuttering, I would expect to see a drop of 5 volts or more.
