08 RXV rear Axle Grinding

Just purchased an 08 RXV and I hear and feel, a grinding sound coming from the back wheels. Don’t know if its bearing or needed lubrication in general. I see a rubber fitting on the axle but its not a grease fitting so not sure how to lubricate.
Any ideas?

If you want to start by changing the gear oil (not a bad idea, and will allow for some inspection), use the search bar above and right ror Rxv axle oil change. There are several threads on the topic. The axle requires roughly 760cc gear oil and requires friction modifier for the posi. You cannot put the proper amount in through the rubber plug on the bottom. I also suggest checking the hubs for tightness. You should also give a better description of the sound, like when it's most noticable, acceleration? Deceleration? High speed? Slow? All the time?

More noticeable on slow speed or crawling but hear it at higher speed if carrying more than one person.

A major noise maker on Rxv axles has been input shaft and it's bearings.
