Sometimes when the solenoid driver fails you get collateral damage to other parts and circuit board traces as well. In your case, it appears that the damage is limited to the solenoid driver transistor only. As long as the controller passes Step 4 (diode test) and Step 5 (transistor test) of the bench test procedure, you can be sure no other parts are involved.

One other thing, be sure to replace the 250 ohm pre-charge resistor across the large terminals of the solenoid.

Do I need to replace the resistor with a new controller or just if I fix the broken one and why? I tested the resistor and I got 250 ohms on it.

If the resistor tests good then just use the one you have.

On the bench test I did I don’t have a “Transistor Test” section. Step 5 for me is the Solenoid Driver Test.

Yes, same thing. In step 5 you are testing the solenoid driver transistor.

I know there are different types of solder. Should a certain type be used for this repair?

You would want to use a 60/40 rosin core solder such as this:

60/40 or similar ratio rosin core solder used for electronics and electrical wire soldering, make sure it is NOT a lead-free solder. Most will be lead free (Pb Free)

In addition to solder, you will need some method of extracting the old solder from the component lead holes in the circuit board. Some people use a "solder sucker" vacuum type device, others use solder wicking copper braid.
