RXV owners...initial turn of the key
So we let our water go well below the lead plates. During that time it was hard to get it to "cycle" into gear. When we purchased it used, the original owner said you must go directly to ON and then to fwd or rev. True?
So we just replaced the batteries (and will monitor watering much more vigilantly). Problem solved and man, so much more power! But recently, it is doing the "clicking" issue again. Will only click once, not twice and when you subsequently put it in fwd or rev it doesn't go. You have to repeat this process a couple times to finally get it to click into gear. So any theories on what is causing this? Thanks! |

As for the intermittent operation, it's likely one or both pedals are not returning to the full up position due to a weakened spring. If you remove the rocker panels so you can take out the mat and the pedals cover, you can get at the pedal assemblies. You may need to unbolt them from the floor pan to get at the pedal return springs. The springs cannot be replaced without replacing the entire assembly, but you can tighten the springs up by cutting short pieces of rubber tubing and slipping them over one or both ends of the springs. If you use a screwdriver to release the rubber taper on the rubber pedal stop bushing, you can remove it to give you more pedal travel to allow the rubber tubing pieces to be slipped onto the spring ends easier. Don't forget to re-install the pedal stop bushing when done. While you have access to the pedal assemblies, use compressed air to blow out any dust/dirt/grime from the pedal pivot pin area and oil the pins well on both sides of the pedals, and depress/release the pedals multiple times to work the oil into between the pivot pins and pedals. Binding pedals can cause the same problem, a lack of reliable pedal return. |

Thanks. I'll give that a shot. Worst case, good to know and maybe "slamming" the pedal during the trial will help.
Anyone else? |

Re: RXV owners...initial turn of the key
But nothing specific to this cart about going to ON before a driev mode?

Bob is by far one of the best guys on this forum in dealing with the rxv. He can do things to these carts that I’m not sure anyone else can. Stick with him on this, and post again after you try his suggestion.

Re: RXV owners...initial turn of the key
Not true on my 2012 model (curtis) or a 2011 model I have direct access to. Other than you and maybe one other that Bob remembers I don't recall this being a problem on this forum. Nothing about it in the owners manual.
