'93 Marathon rear end maintenance
I've got a '93 Marathon that's in dire need of maintenance before something bad happens. what kind of gear oil goes in and what other things should I look out for?

Attached is the service manual for the Dana axle.
For some inexplicable reason EZGO uses SAE-30 motor oil in them. Some cart owners use an 80/20 mix of SAE-30 and STP, while others use gear oil. I'm currently using 85W-140 gear oil, but going to 75W-90 full synthetic next oil change. BTW motor oil and gear oil have different viscosity scales. SAE-85W gear oil has about the same viscosity as SAE-30 motor oil. |
