Default TC charger HK-H series 1.8KW Idle Temperature

I've noticed hours after my lithium pack has charged the charger is at 118 degrees fahrenheit. Anybody else know the temp of their charger? Also, if I unplug the charger, it goes to room temp.

Mine gets about 120 as well cools back down to room temp when not in use. Cables to and from charger aren't getting hot so I assume its normal. All higher amperage chargers get hot.

Does yours stay that temp, even after the charge cycle has completed? As long as mine is plugged in, it is that temp.

Yeah, as long as its plugged in. It's the transformer stepping down the voltage that transformation creates a lot of heat and is done regardless of output. Transformer starts as soon as power is supplied. I'm sure a higher quality charger could be had with a feature to defeat this. I leave my seat off when charging. If you do a little research on the life of lithium cells due to heat it's quite disturbing. Temps above 90 degrees kill them way quicker than more moderate temps. Subjecting the cells to ambient temps of 110+ degrees isn't good.

This an option for long term storage-

You could buy a programmable switch that could be wired to turn your outlet on and off. The switches are programmable for 7 days a week 365 days a year.
